Week of March 10 - 14, 2025

Important Information

  • We had an awesome week back from the break and absolutely loved seeing everyone bring Read Across SHAPE to life—each day was a colorful celebration of reading, creativity, and school spirit!

  • No Wheels on campus!- We love that students ride their bikes to school, but they must walk their bikes once on campus to help keep everyone safe.

  • Supervision is provided on the blue top at 0830. If students are dropped off before, there is no supervision.

  •  If interested in helping with events or volunteering, don't hesitate to get in touch with leanne.waring@dodea.edu and shapeesmsptso@gmail.com

  • A guardian must sign in any student who arrives late.  Students are expected to be lined up on the blue top between 8:30-8:40 am.

  • Please email shapees.attendance@dodea.edu if your child will be absent.

We appreciate your support!

SHAPE Elementary Administration

Cognia Visit

Cognia is the organization that accredits DoDEA schools, ensuring that our educational programs meet high standards of excellence. Accreditation is an important process that helps schools and districts continuously improve and provide the best learning experiences for students. As part of the district-wide accreditation review, SHAPE Elementary School will be visited in March. This visit allows Cognia to evaluate our school’s progress, celebrate our strengths, and identify areas for growth. We look forward to this opportunity and appreciate the support of our school community in making SHAPE ES a great place for learning!

Online Re-registration Parent Letter

Dear Parent/Sponsor,

It's time for School Year 2025-2026 Spring Re-registration! Parents must submit a re-registration to indicate whether each student is staying in DoDEA or leaving their current location. Parents should log into the DoDEA Student Information System (DSIS) Family Portal at https://dodeasis.myfollett.com/aspen/logon.do to submit each student re-registration request. The re-registration process also provides a quick and easy way for families to update information (contacts, Sponsor's employment status, student health) if the student is returning.

Below are a few tips to ensure success:

-          Make sure you are using the Current Student Re-Registration section in the Family            Portal.

-          Expired or expiring orders? Upload documents on the Documents tab as part of the        re-registration process (i.e., new orders, extensions, etc.).

-          Update only information that has changed since last school year.

-          Be sure to review and update all contact information for every contact. You will also be able to indicate whether an emergency contact should be added or removed.

Please complete the re-registration process as soon as possible, but no later than the end of the school year. The information collected during re-registration will be used to determine each student's continued eligibility, as well as plan staffing and resource needs for the coming school year. After your re-registration submission has been reviewed, the School Registrar will contact you if additional information is required.

Note: If the student is enrolled on a space available basis, the school will contact you for additional requirements. Re-registration is not confirmation that space is available for the next school year.

If you encounter issues, please contact the School Registrar, Marie Bigot at marie.bigot@dodea.edu

Robotics Club

Join the 4th Grade Robotics Club! 🤖

Does your child love to tinker and create? Are they fascinated by robots and how they work?

If so, the Fourth Grade Robotics Club is the perfect adventure for them! Using the incredible LEGO Spike Prime robotics kits, students will team up in pairs to design, build, and program their very own robots. They’ll dive into the engineering design process, learning to brainstorm, plan, create, test, and improve their robotic creations.

In this club, your child will:

Design: Sketch and plan their robot’s structure and functions.

Build: Assemble their robot using LEGO Spike Prime kits.

Program: Use LEGO software to bring their robot to life with sensors and maneuvers.

Test and Improve: Experiment with their designs and make improvements.

Universal Pre-K

Our Pre-K students are exploring the exciting theme of Clothing as part of the Creative Curriculum! The essential question guiding the first week of this study is, "What do we know about clothes?" Through hands-on activities and engaging lessons, students will discover how clothing is made and what its purpose is. We’re excited to see their curiosity and creativity shine during this exploration!

First Aid and Emergency Care

Applying bandages to a child's arm

School personnel will administer first aid as efficiently as possible to the dependent student when needed to treat minor injury or illness, in accordance with the DoDEA Regulation 2720.1, "First Aid and Emergency Care," September 8, 2003. In accordance with Section 6 of DoDEA Regulation 2720.1, should a student sustain a more serious illness or injury, the school nurse will make a judgment call based on nursing assessment to determine if the student needs emergency medical care requiring a response by an emergency medical team (EMT) and possible transportation for treatment at a health care facility. If a student needs emergency medical care requiring an ambulance, the school will make reasonable efforts to contact the sponsor/parent/guardian or emergency contact. In the absence of a parent, a school administrator or designee may accompany the student to the medical treatment facility.

The EMT, health care facility, or attending health care provider(s) may be non-U.S. or non-military facilities or providers, especially if the dependent student is located overseas. Treatment decisions will be made exclusively by the health care provider(s) if the nature of the dependent student's injury or illness requires immediate health care, in accordance with their standard operating procedures regarding the delivery of emergency care for the dependent student.

It is very important for the school to have a current address, home phone number, mobile phone numbers, duty phone number, and the phone number of another adult to act as emergency contact in case parents cannot be contacted.

Contact your school nurse for additional information regarding the DoDEA School Health Services Program.
