Weekly Wrap-Up

As the 2024–2025 school year comes to a close, emotions are certainly running high. While there's much excitement for summer and the adventures ahead, this time of year can also bring some tough goodbyes, especially in a community like ours, where many families transition to new assignments and locations.

We want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for an incredible year!🎉 SHAPE Elementary is truly a special place, and that’s because of our students, staff, and families who make this such a strong and caring community.

This week, we also celebrated a very special milestone—Mr. Tjeltveit’s retirement after 35 years of dedicated service in education! We wish him all the best in this next exciting chapter. He will be deeply missed, and we are so grateful for the legacy he leaves behind.

We wrapped up the last day of school with bubbles and smiles as students and staff waved their final goodbyes—always a fun and bittersweet tradition to close out the year.

As we officially say goodbye to SY 2024–2025, we already look forward to what the next school year will bring. Until then, we hope you have a safe, restful, and joy-filled summer! 😎

Accelerated Withdrawal

The Principal may authorize an accelerated withdrawal of a student who must withdraw from school 20 or less instructional days prior to the end of a semester, in accordance with Section 3.1.d, of DoDEA Administrative Instruction 1367.01, “High School Graduation Requirements and Policy,” [TBD]. Accelerated withdrawal will only be considered if the parent/sponsor presents PCS orders. The parent or sponsor must present verification of the date required for the student to depart from the school (e.g., PCS orders). All of the conditions of an accelerated study program outlined by the student’s teachers must be met prior to withdrawal in order for grades to be assigned and credit to be granted. Students who withdraw prior to the 20-day limitation of the accelerated withdrawal policy will receive “withdrawal” grades rather than final grades. In this case, the sponsor/parent should notify the school two weeks prior to the date of withdrawal.

We’re excited to share that DoDEA has won the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) Publications and Digital Media Excellence Award – Website Award of Merit for our School Newsletters Project! This NSPRA award honors outstanding school communication efforts that help connect schools with their communities. This wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of our amazing school webmasters. Thank you for keeping families connected with your hard work and heart!
